Dr. Sharma passed out from AIIMS from the prestigious Dr Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic sciences in 1991 . He did his Senior residency as well from A.I.I.M.S. He has been a pioneer in refractive surgery in India starting his refractive surgery career from the Banarsi Das Chandiwala Eye Institute in 1996, one of the first installations of excimer laser in the country.

He has also been performing phacoemulsification for cataract removal for the last 10 years and keenly follows all the advances in the technology of the phaco machines and various lens designs.

Dr Sharma has been a senior consultant at the Mata Chanan Devi Hospital, at the Centre for Sight at Safderjung Enclave. He was also the Director and senior consultant at the Centre for Sight ( East) for four years.

It is the endeavor of Dr Sharma to bring cutting edge technology to the residents of West Delhi in the field of Refractive and Cataract Surgery. The First Sight Laser Centre, at the District Centre in janakpuri, is a step in that direction.
